I was thinking about this the other day while listening to Anita Ward’s Ring My Bell.
There’s something interesting about the way the song captures intimacy, love and sexual innuendo without ever becoming particularly explicit. On the surface, it’s simply an irresistible slice of late-70s disco, but listen more closely and that famous bell begins to sound rather different.
